What we collect, and what we do not
Short version: this site has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking pixels. The only personal data we hold is what you type into the access form, and we hold it to reply to you.

This website
No analytics service runs on these pages. No cookies are set. Two third-party services are loaded, and each sees your IP address as a consequence of serving you a file:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and terminates the connection. It keeps short-lived request logs for security and abuse prevention.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces. If you would rather it did not, a font blocker will not break anything on these pages.
- MapLibre is loaded from a public CDN on the market page only.
We do not combine any of that with anything else, because we do not receive it.
The access form
When you submit the form we store your name, organisation, email address, role, stated interest, selected markets and message. We also store the country your request came from, as reported by Cloudflare, and the time of the request. We do not store your IP address against your enquiry.
Why: to reply to you and to decide whether there is a fit. That is the only purpose.
How long: as long as the conversation is live, and for up to two years afterwards so we do not lose context if you come back. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
Who else sees it: nobody, unless we later connect a customer relationship tool, in which case this notice will name it. We do not sell, rent, or share enquiry data, and we do not add you to a mailing list. If you want to hear from us again, you will have to ask.
Your rights
If you are in the UK, EU, or another jurisdiction with equivalent law, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@harmattanmarketmonitor.com and we will action it. We will not ask you to prove a legal basis for asking.
The field panel
Separate from this website, the Harmattan field panel collects observations from farmers, purchasing clerks, depot staff, input dealers and hauliers in West Africa.
Its architecture separates identity from research: personal details live in a restricted database schema that analysts computing the indices cannot read, and published data is aggregated to community level or coarser. Responses on sensitive subjects are stored separately again and never leave that schema at individual level. Respondents consent in advance, can withdraw, and withdrawal deletes their personal details while retaining their pseudonymous responses — which the consent script states explicitly.
No panel data is published on this website today.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Enquiry data is stored in Cloudflare's key-value store, access to which is limited to the operator of this site. We are a small operation and do not claim a formal certification we do not hold.
